Things I have seen in old shows that are relevent for today.
The first two star Charles Bronson. Don't make anything out of it, it just happened that way.
TWO---a 1961 Twilight Zone episode. Charles Bronson and Elizabeth Montgomery, before anyone ever heard of either of them. Two soldiers left alive after a devastating war. One from each side. There was a recruiting poster on one of the buildings.
Come join our glorious war. We are taking men and women of all ages. We will take you and your 12 year old grandaughter. Help defend the rich, they won't do it themselves. I added the last part.
TELEFON---1977. Charles Bronson and Lee Remick. An attack on military instalations is being investigated. One man asks if they should involve the FBI. The other one answers "The FBI would love that, it would give them an excuse to investigate the folk dancing society". You talk about being right up to date.
SPECIAL BULLETIN----1983 Made for TV. 5 terrorists try to set off a nuclear bomb in Charleston SC???. One of them is a bank robber. The other 4 'terrorists', are 2 scientists, a civil rights activist, and a school teacher. How far can America push it's citizens before the citizens start to push back?

Lilya Litviak-Aug.18,1921-Aug. 1,1943

Born Lidiia Vladimirovna Litviak, she died before her 22nd birthday.
She was known as 'The White Rose of Stalingrad', because of a flower painted on the nose of her YAK-1. It was a little odd because the flower was actually a lily, but the name stuck.
When I first read about her the first thing that came to my mind was a picture of Woody Guthrie and his guitar. He painted on his guitar, 'This guitar kills fascists'. Well a YAK-1 in the right hands doesn't do a bad job either.
Lilya flew with the 586th Air Wing, someday I may post something about the all female 588th Night Bomber Group, the 'Night Witches'. Or again maybe I won't.
Just as a side note. These people were fighting for their motherland against the Nazis, not for Stalin. When Lilya was younger, her father was declared an enemy of the state and executed by Stalin

Another letter to my Congressmen.

I see that the Army is still having trouble meeting it's recruitment goals. Even after the bar had been lowered. Don't you ever wonder why? Other than all the normal reasons.
A person joins and gets sent to Iraq or some other soon to be war zone, like Iran, or Cuba, or Belize or anywhere else George gets the urge to invade.
A soldier goes there and has the nerve to come home alive. The GOP condemns the soldier calls him a coward and/or a traitor. If the soldier dies in Bush's name the GOP attacks their family and call them names.
And your kind wonders why people don't join. Doesn't this come under DUH? Why would a person join just to be insulted later?

Where tax dollars go

This will not be about all the wasted billions in Iraq and other areas around the globe. These are only links to money wasted in the US.
Our new energy bill gives billons to the energy companies in tax breaks. On the 'how stupid do you think people are' department? I read in the moonie times(Washington Times) where a man wrote that the energy companies had to make obscene profits for when the price went back down to ten dollars a barrell. Come on folks, we will never see ten dollars a barrell again or twenty or probably not even thirty. Anybody who thinks we will see ten dollar a barrell give me a big YEEHAW.

GWB is going to buy the Washington Nationals

That is their baseball team for anyone who doesn't know. Not out of his money, naturally. It will become part of the Homeland Security budget. They have stolen enough millions already, a little bit more won't be noticed. HSA will use eminent domain and take a couple of hundred acres of prime land. HSA will build a stadium and it and the team will be given to the Bush family in perpetuity for one dollar a year, to honor George for giving America 'most hated nation' status. And for his tireless efforts to bring baseball back to Washington, you know that is hard work.
All the construction and and then everyday operations will be awarded, on a non bid basis, to the Halliburton company. Halliburton tends to overpay their employees, so the contract for the actual workforce will be awarded to Wal-Mart.
They want a large attendance so the price of seating will be in line with what all the other clubs charge. For an additional $ 5,000.00 per game contribution to the GOP you can sit in the dugout with the players.
With HSA paying the player salaries they shoud be able to put a formidable team on the field.
With special MLB rules set up for the Washington team, they should win a lot of games. Any time during the course of the game that they take the lead, the 'Mission Accomplished' banner will be raised and the team declared victorious.
The players will likely win gold gloves and the ERA title, since no one will have to admit making a mistake.
They are called the Nationals, but their nickname is the Nats. To honor George's best friends, Bill Frist, Rush, and Rumy their minor league teams will be nicknamed, Cats, Fats, and Rats.
