Phony patriotism

There are people out there including those in the media, who attack Sen. Obama because he does not wear a flag pin. Maybe they should look into what a person does and not worry so much about symbolism.
George43 has spent 7 years wraping himself in the flag and thumping the Bible, yet he has done nothing that could be seen as patriotic or Christian.

I haven't taken sides on the Obama/Clinton campaigns and this should not be seen as anything but one opinion and not taking sides. I can see both positives and negatives with both Clinton and Obama. I do understand that either of them would be better than John(I want to be a Bush clone, and keep Americans dying in Iraq for another hundred years)McCain.

A multibillion-dollar loophole

The theft of billions of taxpayer dollars by American companies has gotten so bad that even some republicans are getting upset.

The loophole would allow companies performing government work overseas to avoid having to report contract abuse. A review of documents shows it was added by Bush administration policy-writers after they received a draft of the proposed rule from the Justice Department.

With the Bush criminal empire there is no such thing as good news.
This is as close to good news that we can get.

Just think about Iran

George Santayana said: those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
For those of you who do not follow history, we will take a ride in my way-back machine.
It is Iran and the early 1950's. Iran had a parlimentary style government elected by the people. The Prime Minister was Mohammed Mossadeq. He said that the profits from Iranian oil should go to the Iranian people. Well this sure upset the oil companies that thinks that all the profits belong to them.
Now for the last hundred years or so, the US has supported most any, non communist, totalitarian government.
This is about the first time that the US had actually destroyed a government at the behest of corporations. It was a CIA operation called Operation Ajax, and unfortunately they were successful.
That gave us a couple of decades of the brutal Shah regime.
That gave us the Iranian revolution.
That gave us the Ayatollah Khomeini.
And now we have their wacko president Ahmadinejad.
They say that hindsight is 20x20 vision, but remember there was a democracy in the middle east and we destroyed it. And now we are back in the middle east at the behest of the oil companies again.

And now for the second thought.
Imagine if Iran had invaded and occupied Mexico, and set up their own government. Does anybody think that the US would be happy with a couple of hundred thousand Iranian troops in Mexico? Do you think the US would like having Iran as a next door neighbor?
Well folks, that is exactly the same thing Iran thinks about us. They don't want us as neighbors either.

Brothel workers for Ron Paul

I just have two things to say about this topic.
The first one will be very short.
No matter what one thinks about these ladies and what they do for a living, they have as much right to their opinion as any other American.

The second issue is about Ron Paul.

Ron Paul has no chance of getting the GOP nomination for president. He might have been able to run with Eisenhower, or even Nixon. He is too much of a conservative to run with the modern GOP. They are controlled by rightwing lunatics and Christian nationalists. Even so, a lot of people have spent time attacking Ron Paul. I would like to set some of the facts straight about what a president can do.
Ron Paul as president:
CAN immediately withdraw the troops from Iraq. Or S.Korea or Germany or anyplace else as far as that goes.
CAN open up talks with Cuba.

CANNOT do away with the public school system.
CANNOT do away with Social Security.
CANNOT replace the IRS and put in a tax system that he wants.
